Playlists and TikTok

Some people will say playlists don’t belong in a portfolio. I think those people haven’t received a great playlist before.

I’ve got a bunch of playlists on Spotify and a lot of videos of me talking about said playlists on TikTok, but I’ve also offered song selections to publications, company playlists, and a few weddings.

Here’s a few playlists to sample:

This is Modern Times Radio

If you ever wanted to know what songs are lodged in my brain lately, I update this playlist monthly. Sounds may clash, but I’m worried the ear worms will consume me if I don’t share them.

songs where the first 20-30 seconds make my brain go “wow”

Now here’s a fun lesson in never underestimating yourself. I made a playlist of songs with really great intros, gave it a dumb title, and made a quick TikTok about it. I expected maybe a hundred views, but 500,000+ views later, I still get strangers messaging me song suggestions for this.

It’s Not That Deep

Maybe it’s a little cheesy to make a playlist for the Fanta campaign I worked on, but it was technically in my job title as music supervisor/copywriter/animator/stressed out person.

I figured that the soundtrack to a soda brand experiencing an existential meltdown should a) be chaotically fun, b) make you feel a little anxious without becoming a bad time, and 3) end with the most busy song I could think of with the word “relax” in the title.
